If you have already built a few models and are looking for a new challenge, this kit offers an opportunity to develop your ship modelling skills. The materials used in this wooden model largely match those of the original ship. The parts are assembled using glue and nails.
The plans supplied in the box guide you through construction step by step in English and Italian.
Laser-cut parts ensure accurate dimensions.
Paint and glue are not included.
Ship history
On 12 October 1492, Christopher Columbus, sailing in the service of Spain, raised the Spanish flag on an island in a world then unknown to Europe. This extraordinary adventure resulted from the persistence of a foreigner convinced that the Atlantic was narrow enough to cross in just a few days.
Santa Maria was Columbus’s flagship and remains one of the best-known ships in maritime history. Columbus called her a “nao”, but her original name was La Gallega. Her owner, Juan de la Cosa, chartered her to Columbus for his voyage into the unknown.
The kit includes wooden and metal accessories and fittings, flags and sails, a laser-cut keel and frames, detailed instructions and construction plans, photo-etched steel details and brass parts.
