History of San Felipe
San Felipe entered service in 1690 as one of the most powerful first class ships of the line in the Spanish Armada. With a displacement of more than 1,000 tons and 96 cannons, it was one of the most feared warships of its time.
His duties included escorting treasure ships from the New World and protecting Spanish colonies and ports. He fought several times against the British and French fleets.
In 1705, in an extremely fierce naval battle, San Felipe was outnumbered for many hours. After being badly damaged and captured, the ship eventually sank with a significant amount of gold on board.
