The frigate Diana was launched on 10 March 1792 and belonged to the so-called Mahonesas series of frigates built at Mahón. Her superior sailing speed made her a valued naval vessel. She took part in operations against France along the Catalan coast, then was based at Cádiz during the War of Independence. As part of the Havana fleet, she fought pirates and privateers in the Antilles and made several Atlantic crossings. She was dismantled at the Cartagena dockyard in 1833.
