What is a weather station?
A home weather station brings several measuring instruments together. Depending on the model, it can show temperature, relative humidity and atmospheric pressure. Traditional nautical instruments also make attractive additions to a home or office. Before choosing one, consider what you want to measure, where you will place it and how easily you can read the dials.
Why have a weather station at home?
Observing changes in your surroundings can be an enjoyable daily habit. A thermometer shows temperature, a hygrometer measures relative humidity and a barometer indicates atmospheric pressure. A change in pressure can help you follow developing weather patterns, but a domestic instrument cannot tell you precisely when rain or sunshine will arrive. Use it alongside a professional weather forecast when planning outdoor activities.
Our weather stations and barometers include traditional designs suited to a nautical interior. Check each product description for the instruments included, dimensions and intended use.
Which instruments do you need?
A three-part station may combine a thermometer, hygrometer and barometer, while a two-part version offers a smaller selection of measurements. The number of dials alone does not tell you which functions are included: some combinations contain a clock. Compare the actual specification rather than assuming that every station measures the same things.

Frequently asked questions
How do weather stations work?
Each instrument responds to a particular physical quantity. Depending on its construction, it may use a mechanical mechanism or electronic sensors. A station only measures the quantities covered by its fitted instruments; wind speed and rainfall require suitable additional sensors.
How accurate are they?
Accuracy depends on the individual model, its condition, adjustment and placement. There is no single accuracy figure that applies to every instrument. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions and any stated tolerances. Do not choose solely on appearance if measurement performance is your main priority.
Can an indoor station measure outdoor conditions?
A thermometer or hygrometer normally measures conditions at its location unless the model has a separate outdoor sensor. An indoor reading therefore does not automatically describe the garden or terrace. Choose an instrument explicitly designed for outdoor use if that is where you want to install it.

Why does design matter?
A weather station can be a practical instrument and a decorative object. Wood, metal finishes and clear dials offer different ways to complement a classic study, a holiday home or a contemporary room with maritime details. Look at the overall dimensions and mounting arrangement as well as the finish.
Readability matters too: make sure the scale markings and hands are easy to distinguish at the distance from which you will normally view the station. An attractive casing does not, by itself, guarantee accuracy, durability or suitability for a damp environment.

A nautical finishing touch for your home
Traditional instruments work particularly well alongside nautical home decor. Choose a finish that suits the room, leaving enough space for the dials to be read comfortably.
