⚙️ The history of Hohentwiel
The paddle steamer Hohentwiel entered service on Lake Constance in 1913. She carried passengers on the lake for decades, until her withdrawal from service in 1962.
The vessel later served as a clubhouse in Bregenz, but her condition gradually deteriorated. In 1984, the Internationales Bodenseeschiffahrtsmuseum association purchased Hohentwiel, saving her from scrapping. An extensive restoration returned her to a condition close to her original 1913 appearance. In 1990, she sailed on Lake Constance again.
Hohentwiel remains an operational historic steamship, offering regular excursions and charter trips on Lake Constance.
