Ship history
America’s Cup winner In 1958, the new 12-metre class was introduced to the America’s Cup. Columbia was designed by Olin Stephens and built at the Nevins Yacht Yard. In the smooth, fast waters off Newport, Rhode Island, the Columbia astonished her competitors with her speed and won the first America’s Cup in the 12-metre class under Briggs Cunningham.
