History of Bluenose
The original schooner Bluenose was built in 1921 in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia based on plans by William Roué. The vessel served as both a high-performance fishing boat and a racing boat, and quickly became Canada’s national pride.
The Bluenose was unbeatable in the International Fishermen’s Trophy for nearly two decades, and therefore became one of the most well-known sailboats in the world. The ship became such a defining part of Canadian history that it is still featured on the Canadian 10-cent coin.
