Ship history
This merchant ship was built at the beginning of the last century as a schooner-rigged vessel, mainly for carrying coal. Hunter served in the British Merchant Navy before the Royal Navy acquired her for her excellent qualities in North Sea waters. When war broke out, she was converted into a Q-ship at Queenstown, Ireland, as were other Q-ships; this is the origin of the name. Removable dummy structures concealed guns intended for use against submarines.
The kit includes precut wooden parts, a double-planked plank-on-bulkhead hull, wooden and metal fittings, masts, spars, rigging cord and sailcloth.
