Ship history
This yacht belonged to the 12-metre class and was designed by Olin J. Stephens, who also designed the America’s Cup winners Ranger of the J Class in 1937 and Columbia of the 12-metre class in 1958. Constellation had a wind-exposed sail area of 1,690 square metres. Under Captain R. N. Bavier, she defeated the British challenger Sovereign.
